Vietnamese Green Papaya Salad (Goi Du Du)


Healthy salad on the go, learn how to make Vietnamese green papaya salad (Goi Du Du)


What you need:


  • 16 thin slices of cooked pork belly

  • ⅓ cups shredded Vietnamese mint

  • ¼ cup fried shallots  

  • ¼ cup light soy sauce

  • ¼ cup water

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1green papaya

  • 2 carrots

  • 8 cooked prawns

  • ¼ cup fish sauce

  • ¼ cup white vinegar

To serve

  • finely sliced red chilli

  • beef jerky, broken into small pieces

  • 4large sesame rice crackers

  • crushed roasted peanuts or cashews


Here’s how you make Vietnamese green papaya salad (Goi Du Du)


  1. Mix in a bowl water, sugar, soy sauce, and fish sauce. Mix well to combine.

  2. Then in another bowl,  add in fried shallots, mint, pork, prawns, carrot, and papaya. Pour enough dressing over the bowl of salad and mix well

  3. In a microwave, cook the rice crackers for a minute or until large enough. Make it as a plate and pour in a spoonful of papaya salad. Top with beef jerky, crushed nuts and chilli.

  4. Enjoy the dish by breaking of the crackers and directly eat it or use it to spoon the salad
