Fried Fish Cakes (Cha Ca Quy Nhon)

What You Need:

 

  • 500 g skinless Spanish mackerel fillets

  • 1 tbsp fish sauce

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp freshly ground pepper

  • ¼ tsp sesame oil

  • 1garlic clove, diced

  • 5 spring onions,

  • vegetable oil

  • nuoc mam cham

 

Here’s how you make Fried Fish Cakes (Cha Ca Quy Nhon)

 

  1. pound the fish using a mortar and pestle. Use the fish sauce and dip in the pestle to avoiding the fish to stick in the pestle.

  2. Add in sesame oil, pepper, salt, garlic and spring onion into the mixture. Pound again until the paste becomes fine and smooth or until all the fish sauce has been used up.

  3. Form the mixture or the fish paste into desired size of patties. You must oil your hands to avoid sticking.

  4. Fry the patties into a frying pan over medium heat for at least 4 minutes until golden brown

  5. Serve in a plate together with your dipping sauce ( Nuoc Cham)
