Tilapia Fish Salad

Grab a bite and learn how to make Tilapia Fish Salad


What you need:


  • 100 g pork belly

  • 1 bunch rau dang leaves

  • 1 handful mixed mint, Vietnamese mint and basil leaves

  • 1 tsp crushed unsalted roasted peanuts

  • 1 tsp fried garlic

  • 2 dried tilapia fish

  • 1 tbsp caster sugar

  • 1 Lebanese cucumber

  • 2 red Asian shallots

  • ½ carrot

  • 1 tsp fried red Asian shallots

  • 1 red chilli

Sweet and sour tamarind dressing

  • 1 garlic clove

  • 1 chilli

  • 2 tbsp tamarind water

  • 2 tbsp fish sauce

  • 60 g shaved palm sugar


Here’s how you make Tilapia Fish Salad


  1. In a mixing bowl, mix in all the ingredients for the sweet and sour sauce. Stir well untill sugar dissolves.

  2. Preheat charcoal and grill fish for about 5 minutes or until done. Let it cool for a moment  then flake fish meat. Then put it in another bowl

  3. In another bowl, mix in cucumber and sugar and let it sit for 10 minutes

  4. Drain and squeeze the juice of the cucumber then add into the fish meat together with mixed mint leaves, rau dang, pork belly, and shallot. Add 1 tablespoon of sweet and sour dressing sauce then stir well

  5. Serve in a nice plate and sprinkle more of the dressing top with peanut, chilli, fried shallots and fried garlic.
